Fables Across Time: Kalila and Dimna explores classic Arabic folktales: their origins, their role in early Islamic culture, and how they influenced fairy tales familiar to many today. Kalila and Dimna are Arabic translations of stories found in the two-thousand-year-old Indian Panchatantra, and via oral tradition, these tales became beloved fables throughout Islamic society.

ADEX International collaborated with The Children’s Museum of Indianapolis to create the exhibit. Featuring original artwork, unique interactives and bilingual labels (English and Arabic), Fables Across Time illustrates how the stories known to one culture may have their roots in another. Dr. Al Khemir, celebrated author and artist,  describes her creative process in video presentations. Guests are encouraged to create their own artwork reflecting their own favorite stories. Visitors learn how listening to stories, creating art, and working together help bridge differences among people.

A History Worth Sharing

There is quite a history to this local nonprofit that does so much good for the community and ADEX was there to help tell the story. The key components of this project include the following:

  • Gather information from the original founder & team members.
  • Site visits of facilities and gathering artifacts.
  • Evaluating all information and distilling down to create the essence of the story with the content.
  • Maintained the feel of the era by keeping the aesthetics in the “70’s” color scheme and mode to convey the “decade”.
  • Created a way-finding package for the exterior of the facility along with carrying the theme and timeline through different facilities around the city.

The Goodman Walkway

One does not realize what is involved in bringing the history of a facility or company to life. ADEX prides itself in our process to assist in researching and compiling the appropriate information that can create a compelling story. The project consisted of:

  • Evaluating the space as it presented its own challenges in that it had windows on both sides of the walkway, so studying the lighting effects was key in how we displayed the informational panels.
  •  Determining the most effective way to display the information in an interesting and engaging way as you moved up the walkway into the lobby.
  • Incorporating additional lighting above the display in a location that did not lend itself to spotlighting.
  • Creating a “brand” type of feel in a subtle way as we traveled through history.

Grifols Bioscience

When your customer wants a Museum Display in their Headquarters and there is no designated area available, your Design team gets creative.  Grifols, Raleigh North Carolina wanted to provide an attractive, informative Museum display for their guests and employees to understand and appreciate the growth of Grifols Legacy.  With no specific area available for such a display yet a lobby space that could potentially be transformed and provide a dual purpose, the ADEX Creative Design team opened their minds and laid out a beautiful design using the existing wall and floor space wisely.

In keeping with a Museum feel, guests like to experience visuals with depth, layers, lighting, movement and sound.  A long narrow lobby space was converted to a path of 8’ high angled, colorful, back lit, dimensional wall panels including multiple video screens.  The Grifols historical depth of information was conveyed through various types of graphic applications which keeps the guests interested in seeing what is around the corner.  It is now a natural flow for all visitors at the Grifols, Raleigh North Carolina headquarters to check in with the reception area and be drawn to the Museum area while waiting for their Grifols meeting to begin.  A Museum in North Carolina was a Grifols vision; ADEX International took the vision and made it a very successful reality.
